The Chief Executive Officer of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, Babatunde Adeyemo, has called on the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, to urgently intervene in the rehabilitation of the Masa bypass road in Ogun State.

Adeyemo made the appeal following a meeting between Pelican Valley management and CCETC Ogua Energy Limited at Pelican Ecostay Apartments, Kobape, where discussions centred on plans to provide stable electricity to the estate and neighbouring communities.

He commended the lawmaker, popularly known as Yayi, for ongoing infrastructural projects across Ogun West but noted that the Masa bypass requires immediate attention due to its strategic importance.

“This is the only road linking the Kobape axis directly to Abeokuta-Idi Aba-Aiyerose. Its role in decongesting traffic in Abeokuta should not be underestimated,” Adeyemo said.

He warned that increasing industrial and residential developments along the corridor could worsen congestion on the Siun-Kobape-Abeokuta Expressway if the bypass is not completed.

Adeyemo added that the road project would require minimal funding, noting that foundational work, including stone base and drainage excavation, had already been done.

“The road is still functional but needs final surfacing and drainage completion,” he said.

Community leaders also called for urgent intervention.

The Area Baale of Egbeda Oba in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area, High Chief Sunday Ifasesan Solola, said the road serves about 300 villages and remains critical to residents and factory workers in the area.

“The poor condition of the road has been a long-time challenge. Fixing it will ease hardship for many communities,” he said.

Similarly, the Baale of Masa Village, Pa Sabiu Sotunde, appealed to the senator to prioritise the road project, describing it as vital to mobility and economic activities.

Adeyemo recalled that the last major government intervention in the area occurred during the administration of former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba, particularly in rural electrification.

He also commended the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun for supporting real estate development, expressing optimism about increased economic activities linked to ongoing infrastructure projects in the state.

The Masa bypass links Kobape to key parts of Abeokuta and is considered critical to easing traffic and supporting growing real estate and industrial activities in the corridor.
